'Suspicious conversation' forces easyJet flight to divert

An easyJet flight en route from Ljubljana to London Stansted has been diverted to Cologne after passengers overheard three men discussing “terrorist matters.”

The pilot made the decision to make an unscheduled stop after crew were informed that fellow travellers overheard the men using words such as “bomb” and “explosive.”

The three men are being questioned and Federal police carried out a controlled explosion on a piece of their luggage.

Local law enforcement evacuated the 151 passengers from the Airbus A 319 using emergency slides and carried out security checks.

Investigations are continuing.
