British police have named two of the three men who carried out Saturday night’s deadly terror attack in London.

The pair named are Khuram Butt, 27, and Rachid Redouane, 30, both from Barking, east London.

Police said Butt was a British citizen who was born in Pakistan while Redouane had claimed to be Moroccan and Libyan. He also used the name Rachid Elkhdar.

Inquiries are ongoing to confirm the identity of the third man.

In a statement, the Metropolitan Police and Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley said:

“Khuram Shazad Butt was known to the police and MI5. However, there was no intelligence to suggest that this attack was being planned and the investigation had been prioritised accordingly. The other named man, Rachid Redouane, was not known.

“Work is ongoing to understand more about them, their connections and whether they were assisted or supported by anyone else. We cannot say more about them at this stage.”

Both men were shot dead by police, alongside the third attacker. Saturday night’s terror rampage left seven people dead and 48 injured.
