Londoners responded to last night’s terror attacks by opening their doors to strangers who were unable to return home from their night out.
Under the hashtag #sofaforLondon, residents of the UK capital said they were willing to help after transport hubs were sealed off by police.
However, the darker side of social media was also in evidence as some users posted fake appeals for friends and relatives who they said were missing following the attacks.
A number of accounts posted pictures of internet celebrities or bloggers, claiming they were unaccounted for, which social media news agency Storyful exposed as hoaxes.
