More soldiers go on trial in Istanbul

A trial has opened in Istanbul of soldiers accused of being involved in last year’s failed military coup.

Among those who gathered outside the court house were relatives of some of the 89 people who died.

More than 20 army officers, including half a dozen generals, are among the accused.

This is one of dozens of trials in the wake of the coup attempt.

Last week more than 200 military personnel, including the former head of Turkey’s air force, went on trial in Ankara.
