Watch a live discussion here on this page on May 20th at 8:00 CET, direct from the World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa, held in Jordan. The session, developed in partnership with Euronews, features speakers Ahmed Hussen, Kelly Clements, Isabelle Kumar, Christos Stylianides, Rafiah Ibrahim and Imad Najib Fakhoury.

There are more than 65 million people who have been forcibly displaced and more than 21 million refugees worldwide. Traditional humanitarian responses cannot cope with the scale and rapidly shifting nature of these crises.

Humanitarian organisations and NGOs have been looking to the involvement of the private sector in finding innovative and sustainable solutions to this global problem. It is estimated that on average a refugee will live in a host community for 17 years. It is being increasingly accepted that there needs to be a paradigm shift in the response that takes into account refugee and host community needs as well as the protracted nature of these crises.

At the World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa, held May 19 -21, over 1,000 government, business and civil society leaders from more than 50 countries will come together to discuss this issue and other regional and global challenges.
