Real Madrid will play Juventus in the final of the Champions League after beating their local rivals 4-2 on aggregate.
The current holders lost 2-1 in the semi final second leg to a spirited Atletico Madrid, but their 3-0 victory at the Bernabéu last week was too much for the home side to overturn.
Real coach Zinedine Zidane said: “You know how hard it is and how long the road is to reach a final and for two consecutive years.
“We have to congratulate the team for having made it to the final.”
The defeat for Atletico means they have lost to their neighbours in four consecutive seasons in the competition.
Coach Diego Simeone said: “It’s a shame, we need to keep growing, the step that looks close is not small, it’s big and if we learn and grow and we are able to improve from this that we have done, for sure the future is encouraging.”
Real Madrid’s Galacticos will be aiming for their 12th European title when they face Italian giants Juventus in the final on June 3 in Cardiff.
