Eurozone unemployment in March was 9.5 percent of the potential workforce - the lowest level in eight year with youth unemployment at 19.4 percent.

In March the number of people out of work in the currency bloc’s 19 countries fell by just 5,000.
That put it at 9.5 percent of the potential workforce – 15.52 million people – which is the lowest level in eight years and down from the 10.2 percent rate in March 2016.
The differences between countries are huge, ranging from 3.9 percent in Germany to Greece’s 23.5 percent in January, the latest month when statistics were available.

Among the eurozone’s biggest economies, Italy performed poorly with unemployment rising from 11.5 percent to 11.7 percent.
France, where jobs have been a major focus of the current presidential election campaign, was unchanged at 10.1 percent.
Around the eurozone youth unemployment is slowly coming down but the rate remains extremely high at 19.4 percent of under-25-year-olds, down from 19.5 percent in February and 21.3 percent in March 2016.
