The Netherlands have sacked their coach Danny Blind less than 24 hours after the team slumped to a 2-0 defeat in Bulgaria in their World Cup qualifiers.

The defeat saw the Dutch drop to fourth place in Group A at the half-way stage of the campaign, six points shy of group leaders France.

Blind was sacked after he was called in for crisis talks with the Dutch FA.

Holland are now facing the prospect of staying a home for two tournaments on the trot after the failed the qualify for Euro 2016 following a third-place finish at the World Cup in Brazil.

Blind took over as coach from Guus Hiddink in a bid to revitalise the team but that has failed to materialise.
