Every year, 36 thousands of women in Russia suffer violence. These women are too terrified to fight back and see themselves as victims. In order to change this situation and give an idea of self-defense to women in Russia, Charsky studio company with The Crisis Center for women and children decided to create a unique Monopod-FIGHTING class. MPD-FIGHTING technique is using a monopod as a weapon of self-defense. This technique was created with the participation of martial arts professionals. Thanks to massive PR support of this self-defense technique, huge social response was gained, as the opening of the training course was extensively discussed in the media and social networks. Zero marketing budget and huge public respond. MPD-FIGHTING technique was covered by all the main Russian and big international media channels (ZDN, BBC, Daily Mail, Mirror, METRO, Izvestia, Gazeta.ru, First channel, TV Rain, Friday channel, Fifth channel and many more). And more importantly, Russian society was involved in a discussion about women self-defense problem. Based on the creative idea for the social action, best combat sports professionals were invited to develop easy and effective technique of self-defense with a selfie stick. The launch of the training course – monopod-fighting – attracted attention of Russian and international public to the issue of violence against women and their self-protection.
