Three stunning animation films to look out for

"Cartoon Movie":http://www.cartoon-media.eu/ is a business forum for the best European animation films, soon to be on the silver screen.

Hosted in the French city of Bordeaux, over 700 professionals from the European animation industry met to find financing for their feature film projects.

These projects do not come cheap, a minute of animation film costs between 6,000 and 20,000 euros.

Many of the movies which found their financing at Cartoon Movie were shown at international film festivals around the world, some winning top awards.

Cartoon Movie was founded in 1999 in an effort to boost the European animation film industry. Since then, 14 movies which found their financing at the meeting, have been nominated for an Oscar.

Over 50 film projects were presented at the Cartoon Movie. Euronews’ Wolfgang Spindler asked the producers of 3 projects making a buzz to present their projects.

Wolfwalkers

Irish film director and producer Tomm Moore is one of Europe’s most talented filmmakers.

His first two feature films, The Secret of Kells and Song of the Sea , have received critical acclaim and were both nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature

Talking to Euronews’ cultural reporter Wolfgang Spindler about Wolfwalkers, Moore said: “It’s a beautiful Irish folklore animated feature for the whole family, full of music, magic and adventures.”

Luis And The Aliens

This next adventure follows Luis, son of a Ufologist. It’s directed by Sean McCormack and the German brothers Wolfgang and Christoph Lauenstein, who won an Oscar in 1990 for their animated short movie Balance.

“Buy the movie to have an entertaining one and a half hours,” said producer Emely Christians, “because it’s really fun to see them all, what they do and what they achieve in the end.”

Another of the film’s producers, Frédérique Vinel explained: “If you want to know the recipe to have a better relationship to your parents, and one single parent in particular, it’s easy, you just have to find aliens too improve your life… and that’s it!”

Miss Saturne

Miss Saturne is based on a very successful French novel by Barbara Israël, portraying the 1980 new wave generation.

The film chronicals the life of young adults in the French city of Nice, against a backdrop of new wave music. Producer Valérie Schermann called it “a striking project, a genuine animation for young adults and teenagers”.
