Haute Couture in Paris with Jean Paul Gaultier

Ladies. If your planning a future move away from the city and more towards garden culture, fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier has you in mind.

That is what was behind his spring/summer couture show at his Paris showroom.

On the runway there was impeccable tailoring, flowers on platform sandals spreading to cover long printed silk dresses and all the time liberal with colour.

Canadian supermodel Coco Rocha rounded off the show on a swing and then she danced down the runway as the bride.

“The idea of the show also was a little like a citizen, Parisian or whatever, woman, international woman, that is into the city and little by little she will go to the garden, to the nature, and like and having less accessories and less things like that, that are, let’s say, artificial,”.

Ulyana Sergeenko

Ulyana Sergeenko marked her 10th anniversary with her couture snow at the Cirque d’hiver in the city.

The collection was a true declaration of love to femininity and to the Russian woman, sexy bustiers, tight fitting skirts and all in dark shades or nude colours.

Her “dear friend” international model Natalia Vodianova was on the runway.

The designer who was divorced a couple of years ago from a Russian billionaire has a number of high profile clients including Beyoncé who appeared in one of Sergeenko’s creations in her music video for Haunted. Singer Lady Gaga is also a friend.

Guo Pei

Chinese couture designer Guo Pei’s spring/summer collection was influenced by history and inspired by a visit she made to a church in Switzerland.

She was according to reports also thinking of Marie Antoinette who was imprisoned at La Conciergerie during the French Revolution.

Pei gained international fame when she designed Rihanna’s head turning yellow gown for the Met Gala in 2015. It took two years of preparation to create this show, which was a veritable spectacle.

The fabrics in shimmering shades of bronze and green were custom made for this collection, based on the cathedral’s murals.
