Crystal Palace sack manager Pardew

Some football clubs are using the festive period to ring the changes in the hope of improvement heading into the new year.

Crystal Palace are one.

The Londoners have sacked manager Alan Pardew following a poor run of results that have left them in 17th place, a point above the relegation zone.

The 55-year-old had been at the club since in January 2015 but was fired on Thursday after a run of one victory in 11 games.

Former England boss Sam Allardyce has been tipped to take over.

Over in the Bundesliga, as expected Dieter Hecking has been appointed as coach of struggling Borussia Moenchengladbach.

At the helm the 52-year-old former Wolfsburg boss replaces Andre Schubert, who parted company with the five-times Bundesliga champions on Wednesday.

Gladbach are currently 14th in the table with 16 points, three above relegation playoff spot.

In the world of French football, reigning league champions Paris Saint Germain have agreed to sign Germany international Julian Draxler in the January transfer window.

The deal for the 23-year-old Wolfsburg midfielder is reportedly worth some 36 million euros.

PSG have suffered a stuttery start to the defence of their league title and are currently third five points behind leaders Nice.
