The win guaranteed the ten-times champions a place in the knockout stages of the competition.

They will head to the next round alongside Group leaders Borussia Dortmund, who demolished Legia Warszawa 8-4 – Marco Reus scored and hat-trick and Shinji Kagawa a brace in that game.

French club Monaco assured they qualify as Group E winners following their latest victory over Tottenham. Djibril Sidibe Thomas Lemar scored either side of a Harry Kane penalty to seal their place in the next round.

Going through with the principality club as group runners-up are Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen, who secured what turned out to be a crucial point with a one all draw with the Russian’s of CSKA.

Leicester City continued their fairytale run of success by reaching the last 16 of Europe’s top club competition in their debut season.

Claudio Ranieri’s Premier League champions beat Club Brugge 2-1 thanks to goals from Shinji Okazaki and Riyad Mahrez.

With one match spare Leicester have won the group. Copenhagen and FC Porto played out a goalless draw in the other tie leaving both sides in the hunt for the runners up spot in the final round of matches.

Juventus have booked their ticket to the last 16 with a 3-1 over the Sevilla in Group H. Claudio Marchisio, Leonardo Bonucci and Mario Mandzukic all on target for the Old Lady.

Lyon beat eliminated Dinamo Zagreb 1-0 on the night and now face a decisive final round encounter with Sevilla to see who joins Juventus in the next round, although Lyon will have to beat the Spaniards by a two-goal margin to succeed.
