Crowds of screaming fans braced the cold weather and packed into London’s Leicester Square to catch a glimpse of Hollywood star Tom Cruise for the premiere of his film ‘Jack Reacher: Never Go Back’.
Cruise, who is also the producer of the Jack Reacher film franchise, said this latest offering delivers the goods.
“It’s suspense and classic action and he’s just got such unique wit, you know, Reacher. And we make them (the films) in that kind of spirit, and they’re a heck of a lot of fun to make, too,” he said.
The film sees Cruise reprise his role in the sequel to the 2012 blockbuster as a former US military officer turned fugitive, on a mission to uncover the truth behind a government conspiracy in order to clear his name.
At 54, Cruise is still in good enough shape to perform most of his own stunts: “When you’re doing fist fights and the kind of fighting this is, even though we’re very skilled stunt fighters – we train very hard for these sequences – you’re gonna take some hits, you know, it’s just the way it is. You’re gonna be limping for a few days after each one,” he said on the red carpet.
The film, has opened to luke-warm reviews with some critics saying Tom Cruise should have taken advice from the film’s title.
‘Jack Reacher: Never Go Back’ directed by Edward Zwick is out now.
