Team Europe beat Sweden but now face unstoppable Canada in World Cup of Hockey final

The World Cup of Hockey final will be between Canada and Team Europe after the eight-nation squad beat Sweden 3-2.

The best-of-three title match begins on Tuesday in Toronto, and team Europe will be definite underdogs against the mighty Canadians.

But in the semis the team showed grit, keeping the Swedes out in the first period and then going behind before battling back into contention in the second period and then going ahead at the start of the third. But the Swedes scored to force overtime.

Europe would barely need three and a half minutes of the twenty minute sudden death period to win, with Slovak star Tomas Tatar scoring his second goal as the puck ricocheted off his skate into the net.

It may not get any better than this. Hosts Canada have won two straight Olympic gold medals and 14 consecutive games in best-on-best tournaments.
