Euronews’Aid Zone brings you to Stanytsia Luhanska, only metres away from the “contact line”, where governmental forces and separatists clash on a daily basis in spite of the curfew. Most of the city is abandoned due to regular shelling at night. We show you the remains of an abandoned neighbourhood and then we meet some of the residents. Over 14,000 people lived there before the war. Today they are 600, mostly elderly people and those who are too poor to flee. We talked with some inhabitants who try to make ends meet setting up a makeshift market trading their garden products right next to the check point.
