A bus in Nepal has slipped off a narrow mountain road killing at least 33 people and injuring 28 others.

A bus in Nepal has slipped off a narrow mountain road killing at least 33 people and injuring 28 others. It fell some 200 metres down steep slopes.

The vehicle had been on route from Kathmandu to outlying villages when the accident happened.

A military helicopter plucked the injured to hospitals in the capital where relatives gathered out side the National Trauma Centre in the heart of Kathmandu.

Many of the passengers had been travelling home after receiving their first government payments for victims of last year’s devastating earthquake.

The poor condition of roads and ill-maintained vehicles contribute to frequent accidents in mostly mountainous Nepal.
