De Boer unveiled at Inter

Frank de Boer was unveiled as the new manager of Serie A side Inter on Tuesday.

The former Ajax boss from the Netherlands has reportedly signed a three year contract and at the 18-times Italian champions replaces Roberto Mancini, who stepped down from the role this week after a falling out with the club’s Chinese owners.

In his first press conference de Boer stressed the importance of the club’s youth academy and giving its players a chance for first team football.

He said: “Inter is also famous for it’s fantastic youth academy so it’s also my job to look in there and that people, very young players, can have the chance to come in the first team, because they spend a lot of energy and money in the academy. So, for me is fantastic that I can give players a chance and hopefully then in the future, really Inter players can play in the first team, so that’s my objective for sure.”

De Boer’s first match in charge of Inter is a friendly against Borussia Monchengladbach on Wednesday, but his first competitive game is against Chievo in their Serie A season opener on August 21.
