Rally raid maestro Stephane Peterhansel and co-driver Jean-Paul Cottret celebrated their fifth stage win of the 2016 Silk Way Rally edition winning stage 13 from Alashan to Wuhai.

The Peugeot driver beat Mini’s Vladimir Vasilyev of Russia into second while Frenchman Cyril Despres steered his Peugeot to third.

With his third place finish Despres holds a 31 minutes and 27 second lead over his closest rival Yazeed Al Rajhi with two stages left.

Mini’s Al Rajhi was fourth fastest on the day.

Nine-time world rally champion Sebastien Loeb was fifth.

Kamaz dominated the stage and occupied the top five spots in the trucks category.

Russian Edouard Nikolaev in the black retro nose Kamaz sealed his third stage win ahead of overall leader and compatriot Ayrat Mardeev.

Just 1 minute and 23 seconds separated the two vehicles.

Third place went to Dmitry Sotnikov.

Mardeev now holds an 11 minute and 56 second advantage over Sotnikov in the general classification.
