Silk Way Rally: Cyril Despres clinches third stage

France’s Cyril Despres produced a stunning display to clinch the third leg of the Silk Way Rally as rival Stéphane Peterhansel suffered an early puncture.

Despres completed the 200km trek in an impressive time of 1 hour, 56 minutes and 45 seconds, enough to seal the win ahead of Mini driver Yazeed Al-Rajhi while French driver Sébastien Loeb had to settle for third place.

This result sees Cyril Despres take the lead in the overall standings. Yazeed Al-Rajhi is currently sitting second, 2 minutes and 37 seconds adrift while Peugeot driver Sebastien Loeb is third, 4 minutes and 10 seconds further back.

Maarten Van Den Brink reigned supreme in the Trucks category. The Dutch driver beat fellow countryman Pascal De Baar by the narrowest of margins while Siarhei Viasovich completed the podium ahead of Eduard Nikolaev.
