We now know the prices for World Cup tickets in Russia in 2018; and the most expensive ones, for the final, will cost close to the equivalent of 1,000 euros.

Governing body Fifa and the Local Organising Committee have agreed that there will be a special category of tickets to be sold only to Russian citizens.

They will be sold in roubles and for the first round will cost the equivalent of 18 euros.

FIFA secretary general Fatma Samoura said in a statement: “We wanted to make sure that we priced tickets fairly to make the events accessible to as many people as possible.”

World Cup ticket sales will not start until after the Confederations Cup in Russia next summer.

Russia’s sports minister Vitaly Mutko also said they have learned from the experience of Euro 2016 about working with and monitoring supporters.

Russian football fans were blamed for violence before the Euro 2016 match with England in Marseille in early June.
