Hillary Clinton has been interviewed by the FBI as part of the inquiry into her use of a private email server when she was secretary of state.

The three-and-a-half hour session in Washington followed a week of public scrutiny.

The FBI is investigating whether anyone in Clinton’s team broke the law as a result of a personal email server kept in her New York home – including whether classified information was mishandled.

The Democrat is expected to be formally nominated as the party’s presidential candidate this summer.

But her team have struggled to respond to accusations that use of the server in violation of State Department protocol means she is untrustworthy.
