Defending champions Chile reached the final of the Copa America with an emphatic 7-0 win over Mexico at Levi’s Stadium in California.
Juan Antonio Pizzi’s men got off to a strong start as the likes of Alexis Sánchez and Edu Vargas proved unstoppable in the final third.
Edson Puch found the back of the net in the 16th minute before Vargas doubled the lead just before the interval.
The second half started much like the first as Sanchez added a third goal in the 49th minute which completely silenced the Mexican fans.
Chicharito’s team-mates looked helpless in defense and eventually suffered a humiliating 7-0 defeat with former Queens Park Rangers winger Vargas netting four goals.
Edson Puch, who was coached by Diego Maradona when he played for Al-Wasl a few years ago, completed the rout in the dying minutes of the game, giving Chile a major boost ahead of their semi-final clash against Colombia.
