Germany have their tournament base in Evian near the Swiss border. They’re chasing their fourth European Championship trophy but pundits say the competition is wide open.

Poland and Belgium also touched down in France on Tuesday. Belgium who are known as the Red Devils flew in on their own suitably coloured red plane.

The opening match on Friday will be from Group A between the hosts France taking on Romania .

It is no surprise that the five favourites to win Euro 2016 – France, Germany, Spain, England and Belgium – are the five teams with the most valuable squads.

England which have the youngest team in the tournament will face Russia as their first challenge while Wales takes on Slovakia and Northern Ireland has Poland.

Meanwhile France is bracing itself for a major influx of football fans. The country and in particular Paris is determined to put recent terrorist attacks behind them and are ready to enjoy the Euro 2016 football party.
