Bridgestone buying Speedy

Japanese tyre maker Bridgestone has said it is buying Speedy, the French auto chain that sells and fits tyres and exhausts.

It said Speedy will continue to operate under its own brand name with the same management team and will continue to sell products made by its competitors, such as Michelin and Pirelli.

Speedy has 500 outlets in France, 40 percent of which are franchises, while Bridgestone has 300.

No price has been revealed for the purchase, which was made through Bridgestone’s European subsidiary.
