Real Madrid players relished their 11th Champions League cup title in front of thousands of their ecstatic supporters on Sunday.
There were plenty of fireworks when they brought the cup back to their home ground the famous Bernabeu Stadium.
Zinedine Zidane, only five months into his first coaching job praised his players for their hard work in beating city rivals Athletico Madrid at the final in Milan.
“We are proud to be part of this club. I’m lucky enough to have these kids who are phenomenal,” he said.
Zidane who is Real’s former playmaker has become the seventh man to claim the trophy as both a player and a manager.
Earlier in the day the team was taken on an open-top bus ride through Madrid.
The scenes of jubilation must have been a bitter pill to swallow for the losers Athletico, who valiantly held Real to a one all draw after extra time but lost out in a dramatic penalty shootout.
