A player with the Greek football team Olympiakos has been freed following a kidnap in Mexico.

25-year-old striker Alan Pulido was reportedly taken near his home in the northern-border state of Tamaulipas while returning from a party with his girlfriend.

He was rescued following an operation from state and national security services.

During a photo op with the state governor, he told reporters he was doing well after his ordeal but was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
