Works by the artist known as Banksy are going on display for the first time in Rome’s Palazzo Cipolla Museum.

The unique exhibit – called War, Capitalism and Liberty features works taken from private international collections, which look at social and political events through the irreverent artistic eye of the author.

“The real focus is about these three themes,” explained curator Acoris Andipa. “We’ve just chosen to explore them through the art works of Banksy, unfortunately Banksy has become such a phenomenon now that the emphasis is now on Banksy as opposed to war, capitalism and liberty. And that’s what I really wanted to explore with my co-curators are these three very important topical subjects.”

Items on show include “Rage, Flower Thrower”, “Rude Copper”, “Golf Sale” and a print of supermodel Kate Moss in the style of Andy Warhol.

The show, which is not authorised by the mystery artist himself, runs at the Palazzo Cipolla museum in the Italian capital until September 4.
