The final memorial service to commemorate the 96 Liverpool fans that died during the Hillsborough disaster in 1989 took place at Anfield on Friday.

Some 22,000 people including Liverpool players and managers past and present were among those to attend the service and pay tribute to the fans that lost their lives in the terrace crush.

A memorial has taken place at the ground every year since the tragedy at an FA Cup match in Sheffield 27 years ago.

But the families of the victims unanimously agreed that this would be the last major public service at the stadium.
