Forty-five migrants have arrived back in Turkey from the Greek island of Lesbos.

The male Pakistanis were on the first of several boats to ferry passengers to the Turkish port town of Dikili.

The men have been deported under a controversial EU-Turkey deal to stem mass irregular migration to Europe.

Pro-migrant activists had earlier jumped into the water off the coast of Lesbos and dangled off the ships anchor chain in an attempt to prevent a migrant ship setting sail for Turkey.

They were hoisted out of the water by the Greek coastguard and the ship.
