Former Canadian Cabinet minister and political commentator Jean Lapierre has been killed in a plane crash, along with his wife, two brothers and a sister.

They were travelling to the funeral of Lapierre’s father.

Seven people died in all when the twin-engined, chartered plane crashed in bad weather on an island off Quebec’s east coast.

The family of Jean Lapierre are in my thoughts & prayers. Jean was a great Quebecer and a great Canadian.
