Italy’s Vincenzo Nibali produced a superb solo effort to claim the fourth stage of the Tour of Oman on Green Mountain on Friday.
After a relatively slow start to the race, the Astana rider launched a devastating attack in the final climb to outclass Romain Bardet by nine seconds while team-mate Jakob Fuglsang completed the podium.
This result sees Nibali move to the top of the overall standings, opening up a 15 second lead over second-placed Bardet going into stage five, a hilly 199.5km trek ending at the Ministry of Tourism, just outside Muscat.
