Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani both scored to hand Paris Saint Germain a 2-1 win over Chelsea in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie in Paris on Tuesday.

Ibrahimovic opened up the scoring on 39 minutes at the Parc des Princes before John Obi Mikel squared things up for the visiting Londoners on the stroke of half time.

But with 12 minutes remaining Uruguay international Cavani settled the encounter to give the French champions the slight upper hand heading into the second leg at Stamford Bridge on March 9.

Elsewhere on the night Brazilian forward Jonas sent the home fans into wild jubilation as his stoppage-time goal gave Benfica a one nil win over Zenit St Petersburg in Portugal.

Following a tight encounter the game suddenly opened up when Domenico Criscito was shown a second yellow leaving Zenit with ten men.

Benfica took full advantage as Jonas powerfully headed home a free kick for the win.
