Norwegian Edvald Boasson Hagen of the Dimension Data team dominated the field to win stage three of the Tour of Qatar on Wednesday.
The 28-year old all rounder completed the 11-kilometre individual time trial around Lusail in a time of 13 minutes and 26.98 seconds.
With the win Boasson Hagen – a seven time national time trial champion – took the lead in the overall standings, 26 seconds clear of Britain’s Mark Cavendish.
Dutch rider Jos Van Emden of the LottoNL-Jumbo team had set the mark earlier in the day, but eventually had to settle for second best 25 seconds off the winners pace.
There are two stages of the event remaining with the next a 189 km trek to Madinat Al Shamal.
