One person has been killed and two others injured after gunmen wearing disguises burst into a Dublin hotel.
They opened fire on boxing fans attending a weigh-in at the Irish capital’s Regency Hotel.
No motive has been specified although suspicion has fallen on a deadly feud believed to be ongoing in a top cocaine-smuggling gang.
The family of 25-year-old Jamie Kavanagh, who is headlining Saturday’s planned fight (February 6) is suspected of involvement.
It was to be his first fight since his father Gerard and Uncle Paul died in gangland killings between September 2014 and March 2015. Both had been suspected of pilfering money, which was being collected from dealers in the capital on behalf of the Spain-based Christy Kinahan cocaine empire.
The two men were said to have been henchmen in the drug-smuggling ring.
