A man has been arrested carrying two handguns and a copy of the Koran at Disneyland Paris.

Police say the 28-year-old man of European origin had been carrying the guns in a bag. One was an automatic handgun.

The French Interior Ministry said the search is continuing for a woman thought to have been with the man.

Initial reports suggested incorrectly a woman had been arrested.

“Firearms were discovered in the bags of man as he went through the metal detector during a routine security check at one of our hotels,” said Disneyland Paris spokesperson Francois Banon.

Officials say the man was known to police before the incident at the park’s New York hotel.
