Just six months after winning the 2015 Copa America on home soil, national team coach Jorge Sampaoli has quit in the wake of a disagreement with newly elected president of the nation’s ANFP football governing body Arturo Salah.

The 55-year-old, who had been linked with a move to Chelsea, had been seeking a way out of his job saying he no longer felt respected after details of his work contract were exposed.

Marcelo Bielsa is rumoured to be a candidate to replace Sampaoli while Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini told journalists returning to his home country was not in his immediate plans.

Jorge Sampaoli is no longer the manager of Chile after reaching an agreement to terminate his contract on Tuesday. https://t.co/IuDu47muLw
