It’s reported burning debris fell from the building – part of which is The Address Tower hotel as fire fighters arrived at the scene.
The blaze ran up at least 20 of the building’s 63 stories. The cause of the inferno is not clear with early reports indicating that there have been no injuries.
It happened just hours before Dubai’s annual fireworks display and the start of the New Year’s celebrations.
A Dubai official has confirmed the festivities and fireworks display will still to ahead despite the fire.
