Hailed as the biggest fireworks display ever seen in the Australian city, the light show was themed ‘City of Colour’ in tribute to Sydney’s beaches, flora, fauna and the diverse backgrounds of its residents.
There was a different atmosphere altogether in Tokyo where balloons were released into the night sky on the stroke of midnight.
