Belgian police have arrested two people in different parts of the country, both suspected of plotting an attack in Brussels on New Year’s Eve.

Military clothing and ISIL propaganda were discovered in house searches but no weapons or explosives were found.

Federal prosecutors announced that six people were initially taken in for questioning. Four have since been released.

They say there is no link with last month’s attacks in Paris, which killed 130 people
