The UK, US, France and Australia have made the unusual move of issuing security warnings to their nationals in one particular Beijing district.

People in Sanlitun, a busy bar, shopping and diplomatic district in the Chinese capital have been advised to “exercise heightened vigilance.”

The British Embassy says it has “received information of possible threats against Westerners” in the area “on or around Christmas Day.”
