Thousands of US prisoners freed early because of computer glitch

More than 3,000 prisoners have been released early in Washington because of a computer glitch.

Sentence reductions for good behaviour were miscalculated, with inmates being released 49 days early, on average.

The 13-year problem has now been corrected.
