Hirscher held off the tough challenge of America’s Ted Ligerty, the two-time Olympic gold medalist had a storming second run to move up from 29th to second.
It marked a great day for Ligerty’s compatriot Andrew Weibrecht who in finishing third claimed his first World Cup podium place.
