At the World Travel Market 2015 in London, the leading event for the global travel industry, euronews spoke to Inga Hlín Pálsdóttir from Promote Iceland about how Iceland comes up with a creative online campaign, aimed at interactivity between travellers and locals.

We have been working under the umbrella brand “Inspired by Iceland” those last few years and that is our main brand and that is our website www.inspiredbyiceland.com. What we have been doing for the last couple of months and what we will be doing for the rest of the year is that we have a campaign called “Ask Guðmundur”, which is actually a male name. 4000 men in Iceland bear that name, and 400 Icelandic women – that is about one per cent of the nation, because we are only 330,000. This is what we did, we selected seven men of that name in seven regions of Iceland and they act as a human search engine, because what do you do when you look up a destination and when you want to find information you look into a search engine. But if that search engine is human, you would of course use that.
