Citizens of the world’s most air-polluted capital New Delhi may have breathed a sigh of relief on Thursday (October 22).

A major stretch of road in the Indian city went car free for a few hours.

Only public transport was allowed to ply the road from Old Delhi to the doorsteps of parliament.

Outdoor air pollution kills millions worldwide every year, according to the World Health Organisation, including more than 627,000 people in India.
