Australia: anti-mosque protest draws hundreds to rural Bendigo

<p>Over 400 police and riot squad personnel were called in to prevent clashes over the <a href="http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/bendigo-mosque-protests-antiracism-demonstrators-to-face-off-with-rightwing-nationalists-20151010-gk5x4c.html">construction of a mosque</a> in Bendigo, rural Australia.</p> <p>The right-wing United Patriots Front reportedly bussed in supporters from all over the state to take part in the protest. It was countered by the pro-multicultural Rally for Diversity.</p> <p>More than 600 people are thought to have participated in the marches.</p>
