Golden Horn, ridden by Frankie Dettori, won the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe on Sunday, denying French filly Treve a record third victory at Longchamp near Paris.

It is the fourth time Dettori has won the race and marks another milestone in the resurrection of his career after he was banned from racing in 2012 due to a positive drugs test.

After being drawn wide he took the option to stay well away from the other 17 runners until he took up a position just behind Shahah, who was in the race as pacesetter for Treve.

That put Dettori in the perfect position to break at the top of the straight.

Treve broke too in an attempt to chase Golden Horn down but the French horse was unable to replicate the lightning sprints that won her the Arc in the last two years.
