There was an historic goal for Wayne Rooney in England’s six nil thrashing of San Marino in the Euro qualifiers. His 49th goal equaled Sir Bobby Charlton’s total.

The result in Group E meant England became the first team to qualify for the Championships. Three goals in the last ten minutes from Switzerland against Slovenia keep them in second place.

That scoring record by Sir Bobby Charlton has stood since 1970.

A goal from Jordi Alba after just five minutes set Spain on their way to a two nil victory over Slovakia. Iniesta added the second on the half hour mark.

The result means Spain move top of Group C on goal difference over Slovakia. Ukraine remain in a menacing third slot after a comfortable three one win over Belarus all those goals came in the first 40 minutes.

Austria secured a critical three points in their clash in Group G against against Moldova, one nil the final score.

It leaves the Austrians with a commanding seven point lead ahead of Sweden. Their clash against Russia was a tight affair going down one nil to open up what appears to be the fight for second place in Group G
