A billion people. That’s how many users social networking site Facebook claimed accessed its site on Monday.
To put it into context that is one in seven of the world’s population.
Three years ago Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg claimed it had one billion users a month – now the company says it can achieve that figure in just one day.
Success is no doubt helped by the increasing access to mobile phones and internet, especially in developing countries.
The company also has a habit of acquiring other companies to add to its stable like Whatsapp.
And Zuckerberg says is going for world domination – he says this is just the beginning, identifying Africa as its next big area of growth.
