Valencia have made it through the group stages of the Champions League despite losing away to Monaco. The game ended 2-1 with Negredo finding the back of the net early for the Spaniards but goals from Raggi and Elderson secured the home side’s victory.

Overall, the Spanish side won 4-3 on aggregate and for the first time become one of five teams from Spain in the championship.

In the other play off matches on Tuesday night, Maccabi Tel-Aviv made it through to the group stages after winning on away goals. They drew 1-1 with Basel at home.

Scottish outfit Celtic went crashing out after losing away to Malmö.

Dinamo Zagreb were too strong for Albanian side Skënderbeu. The Croats won 4-1 but go through on an aggregate score of 6-2.

And finally a draw was enough to make it through to the next round for Shakhtar Donetsk in their clash against Rapid Wien.
